On the 21st of September we held our first working party in conjunction with the Neroche Conservation Volunteers. An ‘Artic Tractor’ with a mechanical flail had been on site two weeks earlier and cut the overgrown bramble, blackthorn and hazel. Our task was to rake up the thatch and take it off to stop the ground being enriched. The other task was to cut back young hazel saplings to form wider corridors for the ponies to graze around the tree copses that were to be left. We had a very successful day.
